The label was launched in 2008 to distribute records by rock, blues and classical musicians. Initially, Murky Water Records was a fully equipped analog/digital recording studio and full staff for complete recording,〔http://www.bandmix.ca/mwr/〕 production and distribution of music and later the label was added as a vehicle for the bands recording in the studio. Producers have included Marylou Dawes, Harmony Ausland, Rawn Oliver and Thor Kolbinson.
